Grammy award-winning cellist Zuill Bailey visited with students of Mountain View High School’s music program Wednesday. Part information, part performance, Bailey’s “informance” engaged students and gave them a new love and appreciation of classical music. Interspersing short musical vignettes with personal stories and Q&A sessions, Bailey shared some of the wisdom he’s gained in his life and career. In return, the students responded enthusiastically to both Bailey’s playing and his message. Music department teachers, who are always seeking out ways to enhance their students’ music education, were thrilled to have a guest performer of Bailey’s standing, and hope to see him return soon. Bailey is Guest Artistic Director with the Mesa Arts Center and is host of the “Classical Music Inside Out” series for the 2018-2019 season. His visit to Mountain View was sponsored by the Mesa Arts Center as part of the “Zuill in School” outreach program.
